Fieldhead Campsite is a wonderful, well run site, which is surprisingly spacious, yet still provides a feel of seclusion due to the way the small camping areas are laid out.

Choose from a more traditional field close to the facilities (great for Duke of Edinburgh and organised walking groups), a field with impressive views directly over to Mam Tor, or more secluded areas surrounded by woodland, bluebells and just the sounds of nature!

It’s a dog friendly site and strictly limits groups to five people or fewer, ensuring the atmosphere remains calm and peaceful even on busy weekends.

The staff are friendly and helpful and ensure the facilities are immaculate. There are separate male and female facilities, with toilets, sinks with mirrors and a hair dryer, and lovely hot showers, which are a small charge to help conserve water. Likewise, Fieldhead Campsite uses recyclable products wherever possible to keep the site as eco-friendly as possible. The cleaning products are vegan, eco-friendly and made in UK.

There are no electric hook-ups on the pitches, but don’t worry; if your phone dies, you can hire power packs. There is also a small communal fridge-freezer for your essentials. There is no Wi-Fi on site. This is a deliberate choice to help guests truly escape the busy world for a few days, however, if you do need to check your emails or socials, the nearby pubs and cafes do have signal.
Parking is limited at Fieldhead Campsite, so booking ahead is a must. They have two spaces with electric charging points for those with electric vehicles. During quieter mid-week periods, they sometimes allow small campervans or roof tents if you ask in advance.
For those who prefer a little more luxury, new for 2026 are Fieldhead Campsite’s fabulous pet friendly glamping pods, which can be arranged to sleep from one to five guests, making them great for solo travellers looking for a little more luxury, a romantic break for couples and even a luxury camping break for young families! One of the pods has easy access, which is great for those with more limited mobility.

Each of the pods has impressive views over the Edale Valley towards the Great Ridge of Mam Tor and Losehill. Relax in the comfort of your warm bed or out on the decked area as you watch lambs in the neighbouring fields and trains passing through the valley, and even see hikers on the summit of Mam Tor!

The beds can be arranged to provide a single bed with a sofa area and a coffee table, a double bed with a separate single bed and a small sofa area, or even a super king sleeping platform for young families. Depending on layout, there is even room for a dog crate or travel cot, making them a great option for solo travellers, couples, families and groups of friends who perhaps want to escape the great British weather!
There is also a handy kitchen area with all essentials, including a fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, glasses, cups, plates, bowls and cutlery. Visitors then have access to the toilets, showers and dishwashing facilities on site.

They’re heated too, so you’re sure to always be warm and cosy, whatever the weather!
