Highland Cow Therapy

Established in 2020, Highland Cows of the Peak was created to promote the powerful physical and mental health benefits of spending time with Highland cows in their natural environment. These calm, gentle animals are known to help reduce anxiety, lower heart rate, and support healthy blood pressure.

Studies show that hands-on interaction with Highland cattle can reduce the stress hormone cortisol while increasing feel-good chemicals such as oxytocin, serotonin, and beta endorphins and even boosting dopamine levels by up to 21%. This is the essence of what Highland Cows of the Peak proudly calls Highland Cow Therapy.

As one of the first in England to offer Hug a Highland Cow experiences, Highland Cows of the Peak helped pioneer an experience that is now widely loved. While many similar activities exist, the partnership with MaHuRuCo Highlands ensures a truly authentic, standout experience — often imitated, never equalled.

Through Highland Cow Hugs, tours, and immersive experiences, visitors are invited to slow down, reconnect with nature, and share unforgettable moments with these iconic “grass puppies”.
